When You Know Better… But You Still Do It Anyway

When You Know Better… But You Still Do It Anyway

There’s a special kind of shame that comes after.
After you’ve walked with the Lord. After you’ve seen Him move. After you’ve tasted grace and known better.

But you still did it.
You still said yes to the wrong thing. You went back to the habit He helped you break. You texted him. You bought it. You thought it. You went there. You ate it. You drank it. You said it. You hid it. You did it anyway.

And now the enemy is having a field day. Whispering, “See? You’re not really changed. God’s probably done with you now.”
And you believe it—because you feel it.
Ashamed. Unworthy. Distant. Like you’ve forfeited the right to pray, to worship, to be called His.

But hear me: That’s a lie straight from the pit.

You are not disqualified from God’s love because of your failure.
You are not kicked out of the kingdom because you slipped.
You are not cast aside like your mess is too much for Jesus to clean up.

Do you know what is true?

Peter denied Jesus three times—Jesus still built the church through him.
David slept with Bathsheba and murdered her husband—God still called him a man after His own heart.
The prodigal son wasted everything—the Father still ran to meet him.

We fall. But we don’t fall out of His reach.

Sister, your sin is serious. But your Savior is stronger.
There is no such thing as falling too far when grace Himself is the One catching you.

This isn’t a permission slip to sin.
This is a roadmap back.

You don’t need to earn your way back to God.
You just need to turn back.

And sometimes, when the shame is heavy, and the words won’t come, you need a prayer you can cling to.
So I wrote one for you, for me, for the woman who wants to pray but feels unworthy.

It’s short. It’s scripture-backed. It’s real.
Print it. Fold it into your Bible. Pull it out when guilt tries to keep you silent.

If you’ve ever wanted to run from God instead of to Him after failing—this is your reminder to return anyway.

No matter how far you wander, the way home is always open.

Let shame be silenced.
Let mercy speak louder.
Let this be the moment you come back.

You are still His.
And He is still waiting.

Scripture to pray for when we fail or feel unworthy:

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
—Romans 8:26

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love… create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
—Psalm 51:1,10

If this spoke to you—if you’ve ever sat in that place of knowing better but doing it anyway—just know you’re not alone. I'm right there with you. And more importantly, Jesus is too. He hasn’t left. He hasn’t changed His mind about you. His mercy is still yours.

Print this prayer. Tuck it into your Bible. And the next time shame tries to keep you quiet—let grace speak louder.

With love and so much grace,
Sara
